Davidson County Unemployment Down Slightly

Davidson County continues to have one of Tennessee's lowest unemployment rates.

NASHVILLE, TN — Davidson County's unemployment rate fell to 2.6 percent in February, down 0.1 percent from January, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and remains the state's second lowest.

The unemployment rate fell in 69 of the state's 95 counties, rose in five and was unchanged in 21 others.

Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee. The lowest figure belongs to Williamson County at 2.4 percent.

Davidson County is tops among the state's four largest metros, besting Knoxville's Knox County (2.9 percent), Chattanooga's Hamilton County (3.5 percent) and Memphis' Shelby County (4.2 percent).

Davidson County's unemployment rate dropped 0.7 percent from February 2017.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.4 percent, up 0.1 percent from January's adjusted figure.
