Davidson County Unemployment Holds Steady, Stays State's 2nd Best

The jobless rate in Davidson County remained at 2.6 in March, according to state figures.

NASHVILLE, TN — Davidson County's unemployment rate held at 2.6 percent in March, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development, and remains the state's second lowest.

The unemployment rate fell in 82 of the state's 95 counties, rose in four and was unchanged in nine others.

Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, nine were in Middle Tennessee. The lowest figure belongs to Williamson County at 2.5 percent. Rutherford County matched Davidson County at 2.6 percent.

Davidson County is tops among the state's four largest metros, besting Knoxville's Knox County (2.9 percent), Chattanooga's Hamilton County (3.4 percent) and Memphis' Shelby County (4 percent).

Davidson County's unemployment rate dropped 0.4 percent from March 2017.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.4 percent, unchanged from February's adjusted figure.
