Davidson County Unemployment Rate Ticks Up, Tied For State's Best

Unemployment remains low in Davidson County, with a jobless rate of just 2.5 percent, tied for the lowest figure in the state.

NASHVILLE, TN β€” Davidson County's unemployment rate rose to 2.5 percent in November, up 0.3 percent from October, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor & Workforce Development. The unemployment rate rose in 90 counties, fell in two and was unchanged in three others, but is still below 5 percent in 87 of the state's 95 counties.

Davidson County's rate is tied for lowest in the state with Williamson County. Of the ten lowest county-level figures statewide, eight were in Middle Tennessee.

Davidson County is tops among the state's four largest metros, besting Knoxville's Knox County (2.9 percent), Chattanooga's Hamilton County (3.2 percent) and Memphis' Shelby County (4 percent).

Davidson County's unemployment rate has dropped 1.1 percent since November 2016.

The state rate, reported last week, is 3.1 percent, up 0.1 percent from October's adjusted figure.
