Justin Timberlake Snaps Pic While Voting; Is It Legal?
Pics at polling places are illegal in Tennessee, but the Memphis entertainer might get a pass this time.

MEMPHIS, TN — Justin Timberlake traveled more than 1,700 miles back to Memphis this week to do his civic duty and vote. He shared a photo at the polling place, along with a message of encouragement to "#rockthevote." But the question Tuesday wasn't which candidate got his vote, it was whether he'd get prosecuted for the patriotic pic.
"No excuses, my good people!" Timberlake wrote on Instagram. "There could be early voting in your town too. If not, November 8th! Choose to have a voice! If you don't, then we can't HEAR YOU!"
Everyone following Timberlake heard his message, but the local prosecutor's office took issue with where he was when he said it. Tennessee law prohibits using your phone "for telephone conversations, recording, or taking photographs or videos while inside the polling place.”

Timberlake had removed the picture from his Instagram account by Wednesday morning.
When national press outlets, including Time and TMZ, chased down a Shelby County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson, the response was that the inspiring selfie was “under review.” A violation could mean up to 30 days in jail.

But Timberlake probably won't have to sweat this one. District Attorney Amy Weirich issued a statement later Tuesday to The Tennessean that her staff should have checked with her first.
"The statement released earlier today by my office regarding Justin Timberlake and an investigation was incorrect and was released without my knowledge,” Weirich said. “I am out of town at a conference. No one in our office is currently investigating this matter nor will we be using our limited resources to do so."
And, if you're wondering whether Timberlake is backing Republican Donald Trump or Democrat Hillary Clinton, the entertainer hosted a major fundraiser for Clinton earlier this year.
Look WHO DID come over for lunch... Wow. #imwithher
