MNPD Seeks Cell Footage Of Deadly August Assault

Metro Police said people recorded a deadly beating in August on 40th Avenue and they want to take a look.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Metro Police hope a new tips system helps to solve a deadly August assault.

Thomas Nevills, 53, died after a beating August 26, 2o17. He had reportedly got into a heated argument with a man inside the One Stop Market on 40th Avenue North. He left the store at approximately 10:30 p.m. and walked towards Delaware Avenue, where he was hit in the head with an unknown object. He died later that day.

Investigators say a distant surveillance camera shows passersby recording the assault with cell phones, but they've been unable to look at any of those videos.
