Shooting Near Vanderbilt Critically Injures 1
Vanderbilt officials alerted students early Saturday morning about a shooting near campus.

NASHVILLE, TN -- Vanderbilt officials urged students to shelter in place early Saturday morning after a shooting near campus.
Metro Police said two groups of people were behind the Dunkin' Donuts on 21st Avenue South just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday and that one group began firing at the other.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the neck and taken to nearby Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

In the message to students, Vanderbilt said the suspect had dreadlocks and was wearing a white shirt, blue he jeans and white shoes.

Metro Police did not know a motive for the shooting and the investigation is ongoing.
