Here are the top three stories in Nashville today:
- On Mar. 19, dozens of Sylvan Park residents helped erase swastikas and other hate messages that were spray-painted on the side of five homes in the Nashville neighborhood. The Metro Nashville Police Department said at least two individuals were responsible for the spray-painting on homes along Westlawn Drive, Nebraska Avenue, Wyoming Avenue, Colorado Avenue, and Idaho Avenue. Barbara Dab, a Sylvan Park resident and member of the Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville said, "Literally, my stomach felt sick, I wanted to cry. It’s frightening, it’s outrageous, it’s horrifying, and you just don’t know what’s going to happen next." While adults helped erase the hate messages, local children drew messages of inclusion on poster boards in the front yard. (WKRN)
- Nashville police have taken a suspect into custody for a shooting that occurred yesterday, Mar. 20, at the Econo Lodge on Percy Priest Drive off Bell Road. According to police, the victim has "serious but non-critical injuries." (WKRN)
- According to data from rental and property marketplace Rent.com, Tennessee is
among the top states for the largest year-over-year rent increases in the country. And the Nashville-Davidson-Murfreesboro-Franklin market is the sixth-highest metro for rent price increases YoY at 9.01 percent. (Fox 17)
