Tourist Murder: Suspect Sought, 2 Others Arrested in Teddy Grasset Killing

Metro Nashville Police announce suspects in Sept. 25 killing with news that two are in custody, third sought.

NASHVILLE, TN — Two suspects have been arrested and a third is sought in the murder of California tourist Teddy Grasset. He was killed fleeing robbers on a Nashville sidewalk on Sept. 25.

Andy Nunez, 22, and Daniela Cruz, 20, were arrested in Raleigh, North Carolina, in connection to the case, Metro Nashville Police announced Friday on social media. Still sought in the case: Joseph Santillan, 25.

Grasset and Larry Niehues were walking down 4th Avenue late Sept. 25 when a silver Impala slowed and two men jumped out. Grasset and Niehues fled in the separate directions.

While Niehues was able to escape, Grasset was shot in the chest. He was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died.

The suspects were apparently trying to rob the men, police said at the time. Niehues and Grasset had been on Broadway and were waiting for a pickup from Uber or Lyft to take them back to their Murfreesboro Road hotel.

Police released details about the Impala and security camera footage in hopes the public could help identify the suspects.

“I have no doubt that persons in our area have seen this vehicle and likely know who it belongs to,” Commander John Drake said at the time. "I truly believe that there are those in our community who can help us identify those responsible for this senseless act.”
