Child, 8, Shot In Apparent Road Rage Incident In Texas: Police
The boy's father told police the accused shooter had chased them and forced them off the road, authorities said.
AMARILLO, TX — An 8-year-old boy is in serious condition after he was shot in an apparent road rage incident in Amarillo on Friday, according to police.
Amarillo police officers encountered an accident involving two trucks just before 11 p.m. Friday, authorities said in a news release. According to police, the driver of one truck approached officers and told them his son was shot by the driver of the other truck, who authorities later identified as Frankie Lee Haigood, 58.
According to the boy's father, Haigood had chased them and forced them off the road, police said.

The child was taken to the hospital where he remains in serious condition, police said. Haigood was also taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. Others involved in the crash were treated at the scene.
After Haigood was treated, he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into Potter County Jail.
