Texas Man Charged After Skeletal Remains Found In Kitchen: Police

The man told police the remains were of his son, who he says died in May 2018. He has been charged with abuse of a corpse.

NEW BOSTON, TX — An East Texas man was arrested on Tuesday evening after police found skeletal remains in his kitchen, according to the New Boston Police Department.

The man told police the remains were of his son, Jason McMichael, who he says died in May 2018.

Police showed up at McMichael's home on South Merrill Street for a welfare check requested for Jason McMichael at around 5:10 p.m. Tuesday. McMichael told police there was a body in his kitchen, and police found the skeletal remains of a male when they went in the home, according to authorities.

The remains were taken to the Southwest Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for autopsy and identification.

McMichael was taken to Bi-State Jail in Texarkana without incident and is being charged with abuse of a corpse, police said.
