CEDAR PARK, TX —As the coronavirus pandemic continues to impact family households across countless communities, the need for essential needs programs and services has never been more urgent. Furloughs, job losses, and other economic downturns from the public health crisis has paved the way for an increase in demand for services. As weeks progress, area organizations and non-profits struggle to find ways to keep up.

Hill Country Community Ministries (HCCM), a coalition of churches assisted by area businesses, civic organizations, service clubs and concerned individuals that provides food, clothing and other assistance for people in crisis and those living in poverty in southwest Williamson and northwest Travis counties, offers area residents access to food services via its drive-thru operation through May 8.

In effort to mitigate the spread of disease, and to adhere to safety guidelines set forth by the county, HCCM adopted modified services with its mobile pantry. Due to COVID-19 and restrictions set forth by Central Texas Food Bank and limitations at HCCM, the organization will no longer accept food donations. However, HCCM encourages those interested in helping neighbors to consider financial contributions to support the organization's community endeavors, where a $25 donation translates to 100 meals. According to HCCM, a surge in emergency need will see a 45%-85% increase of people seeking help during this especially difficult time.
