🌱 Leander Home Donates Part Of Sale Profit + LISD Heat Safety Chart

Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:

1. A Leander home, located in the Lost Woods Preserve housing development, donated $150,000 of its sale profit to Pelotonia. Pelotonia is a cancer research nonprofit with its own institute, called the Pelotonia Institute for Immuno-Oncology. The home is among one of 14 from builder M/I Homes to donate to Pelotonia, with the other homes located in Columbus, Chicago, Orlando, San Antonio, Raleigh, and other U.S. cities. (KVUE)
2. Due to the exceptionally hot weather, Leander ISD will have sports practices in the morning "when possible." The district also follows a chart that outlines what activities are allowed at certain air temperatures or heat indices. According to the University Interscholastic League, all athletic directors, coaches, and band directors were sent reminders about heat-related guidelines and resources from the National Federation of State High School Associations. 3. Bent Oak Winery will be hosting mutiple events in the coming weeks. On Aug. 5, singer Heath Ham will perform for Wine Down Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Then, on Aug. 12 from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Joel Rapaport will perform — no tickets or RSVP needed. The family-run business is located at 2000 Windy Terrace, Suite 2B, in Cedar Park and is one of the most decorated wineries in Cedar Park, with multiple gold and double gold medals.
