  1. One month after this year's first ice storm, the City of Leander sent out its trucks on Monday to begin collecting brush set out by residents. Local Todd Niederauer was frustrated with the slow start of Leander's efforts in comparison to Austin's, which began two weeks ago. Niederauer said, “This type of brush is not easy to move, especially without a truck.” Leander Mayor Christine DeLisle explained that delays for pickup were due to needed time to negotiate contracts, and competition for the same resources many other Texas cities need. More on this story at KEYE TV CBS Austin.
  2. If you ever wanted to be outdoors more, Cedar Park has eight parks that are extremely popular with locals! Veterans Memorial Park is expansively green and peaceful. Cedar Bark Park lives up to its name, being an off-leash dog park where your fur-friend can play freely. Twin Lakes Park has lots to explore with its hiking trails, swimming pool, sand volleyball courts and more. Oakmont Forest Park is on the smaller side, with a whimsical charm and a playground, picnic areas and a wooded walking trail. Check out the other local parks on Redfin Blog.
  3. Arkansas couple Kary and Debbie Middleton are part of the brush pickup crews moving debris out of Cedar Park. Kary is 70 years old and has no problem operating a claw machine. The couple is performing their duties for pay; however, they're also enjoying meeting hospitable locals, and also keeping themselves busy, as retirement is not in their immediate plans. Local Marty Smith said she's more inspired to get out for walks with her dog, Daisy, as she sees all the progress of sidewalks being cleared. For more on this story, visit FOX 7 Austin.
