Grand jury clears Cedar Park officers in fatal shooting of stabbing suspect (cbsaustin.com) — Cedar Park residents should know that a Williamson County grand jury declined to charge two Cedar Park police officers in the November fatal shooting of a stabbing suspect. Investigators say the suspect fled a stabbing scene on South Lakeline Boulevard, then pointed a gun at officers before being shot. This was the city’s first officer-involved shooting since 2020.
   

2. Williamson County asks for help locating Vicki Nisbett's remains, 34 years later (statesman.com) — Williamson County investigators are again asking Cedar Park–area residents for tips to help locate the remains of Vicki Lynn Nisbett, a Cedar Park woman who disappeared in 1991. Authorities recount the decades-long investigation and conviction of her husband, and urge anyone with information to contact the sheriff’s office or Crime Stoppers to finally bring closure to her family.
   

3. New 183 North Project toll lanes will open soon (kxan.com) — If you commute between Cedar Park and downtown Austin, new 183 North toll lanes are set to start opening in early January 2026, offering a faster option if you’re willing to pay. The nine-mile project from Mopac to SH 45 adds express lanes, a new free lane, and better bike and pedestrian paths, with all major lanes expected open by late February.
   

4. H-E-B plans yet another $250K project for Austin-area suburb (mysanantonio.com) — Cedar Park shoppers can expect a $250,000 remodel at the H‑E‑B on East Whitestone Boulevard, scheduled to run from late February through mid-May 2026. The project will update about 410 square feet of the store and is part of a broader round of Central Texas H‑E‑B upgrades, including similar work in Marble Falls and Dripping Springs.
   

5. Leander ISD delays closure of Steiner Ranch Elementary, board asks for detailed plan (cbsaustin.com) — Leander ISD trustees have delayed closing Steiner Ranch Elementary for at least one year after a packed meeting at Cedar Park Middle School, where parents strongly opposed consolidation. The board instead ordered a detailed, district-wide alignment plan and voted to merge Faubion Elementary with Westside Elementary, while leaving Cypress Elementary’s consolidation undecided for now.
