Here are the top three stories in Cedar Park-Leander today:

1. Following the Uvalde school massacre, student and faculty safety is Leander ISD's top priority. According to John Graham, the assistant superintendent of campus activities and support for LISD, the exterior and interior doors will be checked every week for the whole school year. At a summer audit, LISD found that some of the doors were not functioning properly, but plans to have them fixed by Aug. 17. (Spectrum Local News)
2. At the Aug. 4 board of trustees meeting, Leander ISD staff reported the district is now at 185 campus vacancies compared to 208 in late July. According to the district's data, 87 of the vacancies are teaching positions. Available substitute teachers increased from 318 to 425, although LISD's goal is for 750 available substitute teachers by Aug. 18. (Community Impact News)
3. Jet's Pizza, a Detroit-style pizza company, is looking to open a Cedar Park location in September. According to a company representative, the opening was pushed back from May due to supply chain issues. The new restaurant is located at 1420 Cypress Creek Road, Ste. 400.
