Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:

1. Leander ISD is still looking to fill about 90 teaching positions and 185 campus vacancies for the new school year. The district is also looking to hire 345 staff in transportation, custodial services, child nutrition services, and other non-campus departments. The school year begins on Aug. 17. (KVUE)
2. Cedar Park-Leander residents should be aware of a new law when driving. The new Texas law, the Lisa Torry Smith Act, requires drivers to stop and yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. If drivers do not stop and yield, it is a crime punishable with up to two years in prison. (Fort Bend Herald)
3. Free COVID-19 vaccines are available for Leander ISD students ages five and up. The vaccination event will take place on Aug. 13 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Leander PTA Clothes Closet. Both Pfizer and Moderna will be available. Email wcchd-vax@wilco.org with any questions. (Twitter)
