Here are the top three stories today in Cedar Park-Leander:

  1. Due to the bus driver shortage, Leander ISD is testing a new bell schedule this fall. The changes will allow a driver to do an elementary run, a high school run, and a middle school run. The school district is currently short about 35 bus drivers, though 15 are currently in the hiring process. (KEYE TV CBS Austin)
  2. Details of the death of Jack Elliott, who fell from the bow of a 22-foot boat into Lake Travis in 2019, finally emerged. Carson Neel, a former all-state wide receiver for Cedar Park High School, was at the wheel of the wakeboarding boat most of the time and his father ran the marina. Texas Parks and Wildlife game warden Ben Echelson and his team said in a report, "Jack Elliott was pushed by Delaney Brennan from the front of a wakeboard boat … operated by Elle Weber under the supervision of Carson Neel. Jack Elliott was struck by the propeller multiple times and was killed … the alcohol on board was thrown overboard."

  3. In August, HelloGard StaffSolv, a robotics start-up company, is relocating to Cedar Park. According to co-founder Johan Rahardjo, the "company aims to help solve staffing issues by deploying robots to assist staff so they can be more productive." The new location in Cedar Park is 300 E. New Hope Drive, Suite 103. (Community Impact Newspaper)
