  1. In June, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department game warden Dwayne Havis was flying from Austin-Bergstrom to Cedar Park when his plane, a TPWD Cessna, filled with smoke. According to documents, Air Traffic Control told Havis to land on a crowded I-35 when the plane's engine stopped working. Havis instead landed in Lady Bird Lake because "Interstate 35 was completely full of cars and I knew an emergency landing there would not be safe and would likely have resulting casualties." (Axios)
  2. On Aug. 2, Williamson County Commissioners Court rejected a resolution for the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) to update its Highland Lakes Water Management Plan for 2022. Earl Foster, chair of the Highland Lakes Firm Customer Cooperative, said, "We recognize this is a severe drought, [but] we just feel like the [existing] water management plan needs to run its course so that we can see what works and what doesn't work." (Community Impact Newspaper)
  3. Due to record high inflation, many people are using pawn shops to make ends meet. Texas Pawn and Jewelry in Leander has seen a 30 percent increase in loans in the past six months. (KVUE)
