  1. A construction project to widen Raider Way and East Woodview Drive will begin in June, to coincide with the end of the school year. The project is intended to alleviate the heavy traffic that surround the middle school and high school areas. Estimated completion will be in June 2025. Funding is coming from City of Leander with a cost of $8 million. More details at Community Impact Newspaper.
  2. The potential for severe weather today may include thunderstorm and high wind risks in the category of "be prepared." With the polar weather patterns we've had the last couple of years, stay informed about impending severe weather so you can prepare ahead of time. Some items to consider for essentials: one gallon of water per person, per day of expected inclement weather; non-perishable food; prescription medication for seven days; sanitizing wipes; flashlights; radios, and more. View the map of weather warnings for Leander and Cedar Park at The Weather Network.
  3. The school district's Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) was charged with developing a 10-year facility plan. Criteria noted: "fiscal responsibility, facility optimization, student access to learning experiences that interests them, and changes in population over time." The first step in the plan is already underway, with more forum dates on March 21 and 27. A meeting will be held Monday, March 6 at Vandegrift High School. Visit Leander ISD for more information.
