Online Webinar Focuses On How To Raise, Keep Backyard Chickens

SUU Community Education will host a free online webinar discussing all you need to know to start raising backyard chickens.

CEDAR PARK, TX —As people explore more sustainable ways of living, there are trends that are seeing growth in popularity, from DIY projects at home to backyard gardening and everything in between, communities are finding ways to focus on the economic, environmental, and social impacts of day-to-day life. One particular activity that has recently garnered much attention is households with backyard chickens.

SUU Community Education will host a digital course, Backyard Chickens: All You Need to Know on Thursday, May 28 from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. CDT and will discuss the principles of managing a healthy flock. Whether you have chickens in your backyard, on a farm or ranch, the virtual event will offer great insight on backyard chickens and their benefits. The virtual discussion will feature instruction on the pros and cons of different breeds and ways to identify which best fit your needs. You'll also learn about proper care and will discuss nutrition and different feeding options.

Participants will also learn about chicken coop designs, best practices, and tips and insight.
