Conroe Man Killed In Electrical Accident At Margaritaville Resort

Two people were electrocuted in an industrial accident while doing electrical work at Margaritaville Lake Resort on Lake Conroe.

MONTGOMERY, TX — One person is dead and another injured after they were electrocuted in an industrial accident at Margaritaville Lake Resort Lake Conroe on Thursday afternoon, the Conroe Police Department confirmed.

The two men were contractors doing electrical work near the entrance to the resort when they were electrocuted shortly after 3 p.m.

Sgt. Jeff Smith confirmed to Patch that one of the men had died and the other suffered burns on his upper torso, arms and hands and was taken to a hospital in Houston. His injuries are non-life threatening. A third worker nearby was not injured in the accident.

Authorities said Friday that the man who was killed was a 25-year-old man from Conroe. Conroe police are not releasing the victim's name as some members of his family are on vacation and have not been notified.

Conroe police, the Montgomery County Forensic Center and Entergy are investigating the incident. Margaritaville Lake Resort is without power and has closed at the recommendation of Entergy until a thorough investigation can be conducted by safety crews, according to a news release.

Authorities added that the traffic light is out at Highway 105 and Walden Road and delays should be expected.

Conroe Police Chief Jeff Christy offered his condolences to the families of the victims in a news release.
