Conroe sets $10M budget for Hyatt Regency but won't see a profit in 2026 (houstonchronicle.com) — Conroe city leaders have approved a $10.6 million 2026 budget for the city-owned Hyatt Regency Hotel and Convention Center, even though it’s not expected to turn a profit or meet debt obligations. With hotel debt topping $170 million and projected city outlays of about $32 million over four years, officials are weighing options as valuations lag far behind costs.
   

2. Habitat for Humanity celebrates Next Community in Magnolia with Foundation Ceremony (hellowoodlands.com) — Habitat for Humanity of Montgomery County is wrapping up its 129-home Cedar Creek neighborhood in Conroe, with the final four families moving in by spring 2026. At the same time, the group has launched Marble Creek in Magnolia, a 200-plus home community backed by a major multi-year donation and broad local support. Residents can get involved or send “Hope Notes” through the Marble Creek Capital Campaign online.
   

3. Winner named for 2026 Wright's Printing SCI://TECH Poster Competition (hellowoodlands.com) — A Conroe High School senior, Alejandro “AJ” Hernandez, has been named the winner of the 2026 Wright’s Printing SCI://TECH Poster Competition, and his artwork will promote the upcoming STEM exposition. The SCI://TECH program, a partnership including Conroe ISD, will involve about 4,000 K–12 students in hands-on science and technology events from mid-January through late February, with volunteer opportunities available.
   

4. County farm bureau earns multiple honors at statewide meeting (brenhambanner.com) — A Conroe resident, Stuart Traylor, has been reelected as a state director for the Texas Farm Bureau during its 92nd annual meeting, giving the city continued representation in statewide agriculture decisions. The gathering in Arlington honored multiple county bureaus, highlighted young farmer programs, and wrapped up with policy discussions on key agricultural issues across Texas.
   

5. Each Team's UIL Classification for 2026-2028 (texasfootball.com) — Several Conroe-area high schools now know their UIL classifications for the 2026–2028 seasons, with Conroe High, The Woodlands, Grand Oaks, College Park, Caney Creek and Oak Ridge all listed among 6A programs. The massive statewide table shows where every Texas school will compete, helping parents and fans anticipate future rivalries, travel and playoff paths.
