Fake Federal Agent Arrested At Gun Range In Montgomery County
Mitchell Shoemaker, 31, bragged to police at a police only gun range that he was a federal agent, and now he's in jail.

MAGNOLIA, TX — A Cypress man is in big trouble after he tried to pass himself off as a federal agent to other federal agents at a Montgomery County shooting range. Mitchell Shoemaker, 31, is accused of meeting up with a group of federal agents earlier this month at a shooting range in Magnolia that is only for law enforcement personnel.
Officials said Shoemaker, who came into the range wearing a gold badge with U.S. stamped on the front, and clothing labeled with "police."
Police said Shoemaker bragged that he'd trained HPD officers, and offered to train officers in Magnolia.

A Magnolia officer reported the incident to authorities, and several days later they learned that Shoemaker was not a federal agent.
Shoemaker returned to the range on Dec. 18, wearing a tactical vest and a CIA badge, and passed himself off as a DSS agent with the diplomatic service to a Magnolia police officer and an actual DSS agent.

Agents took Shoemaker into custody. While he was being arrested, Shoemaker told police he actually worked for the CIA.
His girlfriend told police that he had several badges and guns that he would wear outside the home
Shoemaker, who was on probation for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, is not in federal custody and is charged with impersonating an officer or employee of the United States and possession of a firearm by a person under indictment.
