Sesame is offering minimum wage workers in Greater Houston a chance for free health care for a year.
CONROE-MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Minimum wage workers in Montgomery County could receive free health care for a year from Sesame.
The online health care company is offering year-long memberships for free to 500 people earning $7.25 per hour in the Greater Houston area.
The first 100 to sign up automatically receive the membership. The offer includes four free doctor visits for the member or the members family, a $200 value.

A U.S. Census Bureau study found that in 2019, an estimated 18.4 percent of Texans didn’t have health insurance, the highest rate of uninsured people in the country. In 2017, the U.S. Department of Labor Statistics found that nearly 200,000 Texans were earning at or below the federal minimum wage.
“Sesame wants to make healthcare for this vulnerable and exceptional population affordable, accessible and easy,” the company stated in the release. “Offering one year of free health care to minimum wage employees will give people the opportunity to access the care they deserve without financial burden, stress and anxiety.”
Sesame offers a full range of health care services, both in-person and via telehealth. According to the Sesame website, doctors list their own prices, availability, and services on Sesame without insurance mark-ups or surprise bills, which it says saves consumers up to 60 percent on health care costs.
