Houston Man's Crime Spree Ends In New Caney, Police Say
Robert Cantrell, 48, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on multiple felony charges that include robbery, and burglary of a vehicle

NEW CANEY, TX — A Houston man who was on parole, and wanted on two outstanding warrants in Polk County, was arrested Sunday after snatching a woman's purse and leading police on a short chase.
Robert Cantrell, 48, is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on multiple felony charges that include robbery, burglary of a vehicle, evading arrest, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, as well as other felony charges, officials said.
Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies caught up with Cantrell on Sunday after a woman called the sheriff's office at about 2:30 p.m. to say that a man had stolen her purse while she was sitting in the parking lot of the Walgreens at 20824 FM 1485.

The woman said Cantrell fled the parking long onto U.S. 59 and driving a gray Nissan Maxima. Deputies spotted the car traveling south on U.S. 59 at a high rate of speed, and tried to pull him over but Cantrell refused to stop.
During the chase, Cantrell crashed into a concrete barrier at FM 1354 and Loop 494, and tried to flee on foot. Deputies caught up with Cantrell and was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.
