CONROE-MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — After two years of cancellations and modifications, residents in cities and counties across the country are looking forward to many of the traditional Independence Day activities that mark the summer holiday. July 4 is coming up, so there's still time to find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near you in 2022.

We have all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Conroe and Montgomery County so you can start planning now.

July 4 Festivities

What: Montgomery Freedom Fest

Where: Historic Downtown Montgomery (14420 Liberty St.)

When: 9 a.m.-2 p.m., July 2

The Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to bring back this family-oriented celebration. Freedom Fest will include its annual anything-but-a-trailer parade, a kids zone with bounce houses and an assortment of lawn games and a crafter's market featuring local vendors and handmade items. There will be food trucks on site, and the food and shops in downtown Montgomery will be open for business as well. It promises to be fun for people of all ages. Pre-registration has already closed for the parade, which always features an abundance of creative entries.


What: Star-Spangled Salute

Where: Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion (2005 Lake Robbins Dr., The Woodlands)

When: 8 p.m., July 3

This free concert will feature the sounds of the Houston Symphony, which will play a selection of patriotic favorites. The gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 8 p.m.


What: South County Fourth of July Parade

Where: Market Street, The Woodlands

When: 9 a.m., July 4

Get a great view of the parade in the center of The Woodlands. The parade route is a square around Grogan's Mill Road, Lake Robbins Drive and Lake Woodlands Drive, connecting around Market Street. The 1.3-mile parade will feature marching bands, floats, fire engines and more. Stick around after to enjoy a Saturday afternoon on the Waterway, which features a number of intriguing shops and delicious eateries.


What: Red, White & Pool

Where: The Woodlands village pools, various locations

When: 11 a.m.-6 p.m., July 4

All of The Woodlands' pools will be hosting 4th of July festivities with patriotic decorations, activities and refreshments. The Independence Day-specific celebrations will be from noon-4 p.m. Grab your swimsuit and dive in!

Note: Season pass holders will receive free admission; non-pass holding residents and non-residents will be charged the daily fee.


What: Independence Day Picnic in the Park

Where: Candy Cane Park (1303 W. Semands St., Conroe)

When: Noon-5 p.m., July 4

VFW Post 4709 is hosting a family-friendly 4th of July celebration that includes traditional festival food such as hot dogs. The celebration, located at Candy Cane Park behind VFW Post 4709, will include a bounce house, dunk tank and yard games, among other activities.


What: Stars & Stripes Celebration

Where: Heritage Place (500 Collins St., Conroe)

When: 4 p.m., July 4

The 4th of July celebration at Heritage Place will have live music and kids events before finishing with fireworks at 9:15 p.m. Scheduled to perform are the Daybreak Chorus, the Montgomery County Choral Society and Conroe Symphony Orchestra.


What: 24th Annual Red, Hot & Blue Festival and Fireworks Extravaganza

Where: Throughout The Woodlands

When: 6-10 p.m., July 4

The highlight of the event is the 18-minute fireworks display that begins at 9:30 p.m. Be sure to look at the sky beforehand as test fires will be shot off at 9, 9:10 and 9:20 p.m. to give spectators a chance to get a good viewing spot. All locations will feature a wide variety of live music, entertainment and food perfect for America's birthday bash.


What: City of Magnolia 4th of July Celebration

Where: Unity Park (19450 Unity Park Dr., Magnolia)

When: 5:30 p.m., July 4

The children's bicycle/tricycle parade begins at 5:30 p.m., and a fireworks show sponsored by the City of Magnolia will begin at dusk. Several food trucks will be at the park, but outside food and drink are allowed at the event with the exception of glass containers. Officers from the Magnolia Police Department will show kids how electronic fingerprinting works. Registration for the bike parade and more information on the event can be found on the city's website.
