K9 'Hummer' Dies After Being Diagnosed With Cancer
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office police dog previously retired at the end of May.

CONROE, TX — A K9 named Hummer died recently after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
The cancer diagnosis forced Hummer to be retired on May 28 after serving in the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office for more than eight years. Sgt. David Birch was Hummer's handler in the Homeland Security Division, where Hummer was certified in narcotics and patrol.
"Please keep the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit and Sgt. Birch in your thoughts
and prayers," the Sheriff's Office said in a news release. "Rest in Peace Hummer, you served with distinction and honor and we are all grateful for your contribution to the community you served. Rest easy, you have earned it, we’ve got it from here."
