Deceased Man Identified In Alleged Burglary In Porter: Police
A Porter homeowner foiled an alleged burglary attempt in their driveway, but their gun went off in the altercation, killing the man.
PORTER, TX — A man who was killed during an altercation in a Porter resident's driveway during an alleged burglary attempt Thursday night has been identified.
Police have identified the deceased as William George Bounds III, a 22-year-old white man from Cleveland.
The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call around 9 p.m. Thursday about an alleged burglary and found Bounds dead at the scene.

Homicide and violent crime detectives were told that the homeowner received an alarm triggered by motion in their driveway and found Bounds inside their car. Officers were told the homeowner ordered Bounds out of the car at gunpoint. Bounds refused and allegedly said, “I’m not going back to prison,” before becoming aggressive. During the altercation, the homeowner discharged their gun, striking the man.
No charges have been filed against the homeowner, and the case will be referred to a grand jury for review, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
