Montgomery County Increases DWI Patrols For July 4th Holiday

Montgomery County's initiative against drunk driving over the July 4th weekend began with additional patrols on June 25, officials said.

CONROE, TX — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has launched additional patrols ahead of the July 4th holiday as part of the department’s efforts against drunk driving.

The department, along with other law enforcement agencies, increased their patrols on June 25, and efforts against drunk driving will continue through July 8, officials said.

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office was awarded a Texas Department of Transportation grant, which helps provide funding for additional law enforcement resources to target those who drive intoxicated, officials said.

The Montgomery District Attorney’s Office, which is assisting in these efforts, said law enforcement agencies have planned several No Refusal Operations during the Independence Day holiday.

The DA’s Office be supporting these efforts by providing nurses, prosecutors, and having judges on stand by for the enforcement operation.

Lt Scott Spencer with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the goal is to encourage citizens and guests to have a safe Independence Day, and enjoy the time surrounding this holiday.

“Please remember, while out celebrating our country’s Independence, to be responsible. Do not drink and drive, arrive alive! Get a designated driver, use a car share service and arrive alive at your destination,” he said.
