Operation Blue Elf Spreads Christmas Cheer To 1,200 Kids

More than 1,200 people turned out on Friday to take part in the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Operation Blue Elf.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — Officials with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office are calling the 2nd Annual Operation Blue Elf toy drive a success, and that's because it was a success.

Deputies brought Christmas cheer to more than 1,200 residents and kids who were invited to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds on Friday to receive Christmas presents from a generous Montgomery County community.

“Operation Blue Elf was a boots-on-the-ground project the sheriff’s office started when Sheriff [Rand] Henderson took office, and it’s about the officers, and the employees of the Montgomery County Sheriff's office giving back to the community," Lieutenant Scott Spencer told KRIV-26.

The children were selected by area schools, churches, and through nominations from deputy patrol areas.

Many business also helped with financial support or donations of toys or bicycles.

The results clearly surpassed the 2017 event, which helped about 700 underprivileged children in Montgomery County have a Merry Christmas.

On Friday, more than 3,000 toys and 400 bicycles were given out, which not only brought joy to the children, but gave those involved an unforgettable experience, too.

“We just had so many people work together to make this come true,” Spencer told the Conroe Courier. “To be able to give this back to the children of Montgomery County truly is a treat.”
