The Sentra comes out of the parking lot and allegedly almost clips a wrecker driver, the wrecker calls it into dispatch and they put the car's location blast.
The Sentra gets back onto I-45 and heads north, this time the car is pursued by officers, deputies and troopers from the Pct. 1 and Pct. 2 constables' offices, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Conroe PD giving chase.
The driver allegedly exits at FM 1097 in Willis, loses control of his car and hits a tree. Joe Williams, 31, allegedly jumps out of the car with a pistol in his hand and takes off running.
Precinct 1 and 2 deputies take off after Williams, after a short while he allegedly throws the gun in a ditch. The deputies take him down.
While searching Williams, five-oh allegedly finds a bag of meth in his pocket. When the cops searched the car they allegedly found burglar's tools — hammers, screwdrivers, crowbars, bolt cutters, etc. — some crudely drawn maps and notes about homeowners.
The maps, which don't have street names, and the notes — which included the types of people who live in the homes, the best way to make it inside the houses and when the homes were most likely to be empty — prompted multiple law enforcement agencies to begin trying to figure out where Williams may have been planning break-ins.
The car Williams was driving was reported stolen in Harris County on Aug. 14. Williams has a detailed criminal history, with both state and federal time.
Williams is facing three felonies in Montgomery County, evading arrest with a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of a controlled substance. He also has a warrant out for his arrest in Polk County.
