Update: Potential Cyclone Likely To Miss Southeast Texas
Potential Cyclone Three is on track to become Tropical Storm Claudette, but the current forecast has it making landfall in Louisiana.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX — The system of storms that was in the southwestern Gulf of Mexico for much of this week has moved north and is on track to become the third named storm of the 2021 hurricane season, but it is likely to miss Southeast Texas, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Forecasts indicate that Potential Cyclone Three likely will develop into Tropical Storm Claudette and make landfall between Morgan City, Louisiana, and the Florida panhandle. It would be the first named storm to make landfall in the United States during the 2021 hurricane season.
The Weather Channel is forecasting sustained winds of at least 40 mph when the storm makes landfall.
