Here are the top three stories in Corpus Christi today:
- Corpus Christi City Council recently approved a two-year project for repairs and dredging at the Corpus Christi Marina after damages due to Hurricane Hanna and old age. The project will repair four of the piers and dock "L," with phase one set to begin this year sometime after Labor Day. Boat owners or business owners on the marina can direct their questions to the marina office by calling (361) 826-3980. (KZTV)
- A feasibility and economic impact study done on the project to expand American Bank Center and add a headquarters hotel was recently presented to Corpus Christi City Council. Now, five revenue sources for the project have been identified, all of which would be at no cost to taxpayers and would not take from the city's general fund. The council is currently weighing the proposal before making a final decision on funding the project later this summer or early fall. (KRIS 6 News Corpus Christi)
- Plans for the old Lamar Elementary School have changed once more. The city's original plan was to use the school to create administrative buildings and a police substation. Now, City Manager Peter Zanoni said that they are considering turning the property into an area for affordable housing. According to Zanoni, the goal is to have a definite plan for the property by the next quarter. (KRIS 6 News Corpus Christi)

From my notebook:
- The Fourth of July is less than a week away, and the city is providing tips for residents to stay safe during the holiday. Make sure to never light fireworks under the influence, to only use fireworks away from homes and other properties, and to soak used fireworks in water before disposing of them. (KZTV 10 Corpus Christi)
- Corpus Christi Animal Care Services is reminding residents not to feed wildlife; in fact, if caught feeding wildlife, you could be fined. Officials have said that there's been an increase in raccoons at local parks recently, which could pose a threat to residents and pets. (KIIITV.com)
- How's this for some doggone good news? Padre Island's Riley P. Dog Park recently got new play equipment, thanks to a donation from The Dawn Brancheau Foundation. The foundation sent over ramps, tunnels, and obstacle courses for the park, among other items. (KZTV)
