The article also notes several other Texas cities in the top 10 and contrasts them with Philadelphia, ranked worst.

2. Corpus Christi accepting beach and park vending permit applications for 2026 season (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi’s Parks & Recreation Department is opening applications for 2026 beach and park vending permits, covering March through September at popular spots like McGee Beach, North Beach, Packery Channel, and Whitecap Beach. Local vendors can apply online between December 15 and January 16, with permits issued by February 27, creating prime opportunities to reach heavy spring and summer crowds.

3. Corpus Christi finalizes agreement to expand youth sports access at Southside Sports Complex (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi has approved a new agreement that keeps Oso Pony League at the Southside Sports Complex while opening the fields to more youth sports groups at low hourly rates. 4. North Beach softball tournament delayed by flooding as drainage project moves forward (kiiitv.com) — Flooding at North Beach forced the long-running Toys for Tots senior softball tournament at Kiwanis Park to be postponed from last weekend to this weekend, costing some teams their spots. City of Corpus Christi engineers say a major North Beach drainage project is on schedule for substantial completion in November 2026, which should help rainwater clear faster and reduce future disruptions for players and neighbors.

5. ‘No veteran left behind': Nueces County honors unaccompanied veterans during holiday season (kiiitv.com) — Corpus Christi-area residents and officials gathered at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery to ensure two unaccompanied veterans received full military honors and were not buried alone.
