• Corpus Christi urges residents to recycle right after the holidays (kristv.com) — Corpus Christi is asking residents to “Recycle Right” after the holidays, with clear rules on what belongs in blue, green, or brown carts and how to avoid contamination. You can also drop off live Christmas trees and certain hazardous or bulky items at the J.C. Elliott Transfer Station through Jan. 31, 2026, and use the CC Recycles app to check schedules and guidelines.

• Nueces County firefighters respond to car blaze at Flour Bluff Chick-Fil-A (kiiitv.com) — Firefighters from Corpus Christi Fire Department and Nueces County ESD 2 quickly put out a vehicle fire outside the Chick-fil-A on South Padre Island Drive in Flour Bluff, keeping the restaurant open and everyone safe. Crews stopped the flames before they could damage the building, no injuries were reported, and officials even joked that the chicken was saved.
• Mysterious ‘alien' creature discovered on Texas beach (mysanantonio.com) — Corpus Christi beaches made headlines this year as strange, shape-shifting sea anemones and other unusual marine life washed ashore, drawing interest from local researchers at Texas A&M–Corpus Christi’s Harte Research Institute. The story also spotlights rare wildlife encounters across Texas, from an octopus at Padre Island National Seashore to odd birds and alligators in other South Texas cities.

- To anyone who decides that they want to play basketball at “dolphin park” when it starts getting dark or at 2,3,4 in the morning I own the house dam near on the basketball court (yes with all the loud barking dogs )
