Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- Dallas County has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases over the past week as a new variant spreads throughout the state. Last week, the county recorded 626 new cases, with 494 the previous week—although hospitalizations remain low. Even though cases are up 24 percent across the state, experts maintain the worst of the pandemic is behind us. (Dallas Observer)
- A globally-recognized art fair showcasing independent artists is returning to Dallas this October. The Other Art Fair will be held on Oct. 5-8 at the Dallas Market Hall and will feature artists from around the world in a juried presentation. Visitors will be able to meet artists in person and shop for limited-edition prints, paintings, photographs, sculptures, and more. (Local Profile)
- Yesterday, a Children’s Health administrative building in Dallas was put on lockdown following a threat and an incident that happened to another tenant in the Trinity Towers building. Details of the "serious incident," including the threat and the tenant involved, have not been released yet. Dallas Police are currently investigating the matter. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
