Father and son set to graduate UNT Dallas together (nbcdfw.com) — A Dallas father and son are crossing the UNT Dallas graduation stage together today, celebrating bachelor’s degrees earned side by side. The father, a West Dallas native and Dallas Firefighter Engineer, and his son, an Army veteran and award-winning Dallas ISD teacher, say they’re breaking generational cycles through education and already plan to pursue master’s degrees together at UNT Dallas in 2026.

'Handful' of events look to move to other cities as Dallas Convention Center project faces delay (wfaa.com) — Dallas’ $3.3–$3.5 billion expansion of the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center downtown is now delayed beyond March 2029, prompting a few 2029 conventions to seek other cities. City officials say most targeted groups have rebooked for later years, and 68 post-2029 conventions are already secured, representing billions in economic impact. The existing center will still host 2026 World Cup broadcasting.
   

3. 81-year-old North Texas trailblazer to graduate from UNT Dallas (fox4news.com) — An 81-year-old South Dallas trailblazer is finally graduating from the University of North Texas at Dallas this week, capping a 60-year journey to her degree. As a child, Cheryl Hurdle Wyatt helped desegregate Dallas public schools and later built a long career running beauty salons and a well-known Dallas beauty academy. Her story highlights perseverance, family support, and the city’s civil-rights history.
   

4. 'I've always had this confidence in myself,' former Gonzaga star Ryan Nembhard shines in NBA opportunity (kxly.com) — A former Gonzaga standout is making his mark with the Dallas Mavericks after going undrafted, highlighted by a historic 28-point, 10-assist, zero-turnover game in Denver. Ryan Nembhard credits his confidence and work ethic, while coach Jason Kidd praises his smart play as he grows alongside top pick Cooper Flagg and keeps close ties to Gonzaga.
