- Democratic candidate Jasmine Crockett won the U.S. Representative District 30 congressional seat during Tuesday’s election. House District 30 covers much of Dallas and parts of southern Dallas County. Crockett beat out opponent James Rodgers for the seat and will replace incumbent Eddie Bernice Johnson. (WFAA.com)
- On Wednesday, the Dallas City Council voted to replace the city’s current COVID-related eviction ordinance. The new, temporary ordinance shortens the time landlords must wait before evicting a tenant to 10 days. The previous ordinance required landlords to give tenants a 21-day notice of a proposed eviction before posting a notice to vacate. (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
- An annual walk dedicated to combating the addiction crisis in the United States returns to Dallas this weekend after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic. The Shatterproof Rise Up Against Addiction Walk takes place this Saturday, Nov. 12, at 9:30 a.m. at the Felix H. Lozada, Sr. Gateway Plaza.
