Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:
- A shooting outside a liquor store in southern Dallas resulted in one fatality and four individuals injured on Thursday. Police responded to the incident in the 5200 block of Colonial Avenue, and shortly after, officers engaged in a standoff with a person believed to be barricaded in an auto shop in the 4800 block of Botham Jean Boulevard, ultimately taking a suspect into custody. Surveillance video showed a man firing a weapon outside the liquor store before fleeing to a nearby business, and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. (WFAA.com)
- An investigation is underway by the Dallas Police Department following a fatal stabbing incident in a Northwest Dallas apartment on Thursday. Officers responded to the scene on Brockbank Drive after a stabbing call and found the victim, 26-year-old Alex Rodriguez, who was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to contact Det. Jake Morgan at (214) 425-9905 or email jakemorgan@dallaspolice.go. (WFAA.com)
- The Flame Foundation, in collaboration with the B. Moore Dance contemporary dance group, is presenting "Flamenco Black," shedding light on the Afro-Andalusian history of Spain and its influence on Flamenco. The world premiere of the production features guest star flamenco dancer Yinka Esi Graves and explores the rich connections between African and Flamenco cultures. The show is scheduled for today, Sep. 9 at the Latino Cultural Center. (NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth)
