  1. A new report issued by the Child Poverty Action Lab indicates that having legal representation during eviction proceedings reduces the chance of eviction. The study showed that when a tenant had legal representation, a landlord typically won ten percent of the time. Without legal representation, a landlord won 79 percent of the time in Dallas. The study is meant to analyze Dallas County's eviction process and tenant challenges. (The Dallas Morning News)
  2. A Dallas Area Rapid Transit train struck a five-year-old girl on Thursday morning. The incident occurred at Parker Road Station in nearby Plano at 11:30 a.m. The child reportedly ran into the train's right-of-way. She is at Children's Hospital in Dallas with non-life-threatening injuries. (FOX 4 News Dallas-Fort Worth)
  3. The Peanut Butter Paradise has been voted the State Fair of Texas' 2022 Big Tex Choice winner. The recognition was given for the "sweet category." The Peanut Butter Paradise is essentially a deep-fried donut covered in peanut butter candy. The State Fair of Texas will be at Dallas Fair Park through Sunday, Oct. 23.
