Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. Raymond Guerra, a Dallas man, was arrested yesterday after conducting more than half a dozen aggravated robberies over the past couple of weeks. These armed robberies all took place within an eight-block area in West Oak Cliff. Detectives have stated that in the final robbery on Aug. 3, Guerra meant to shoot an armed security guard but his pistol malfunctioned — following his arrest, the combined bonds on all his charges total $1 million. (KRLD)
  2. Last week, the Dallas City Plan Commissioners greenlit a zoning change proposed by the owners of the Hill Shopping Center that would allow for the construction of new apartments. According to Commission filings, the zoning change would allow for future redevelopment of the entire property with mixed uses, including multifamily. Following the City Plan Commission approval, the new proposal will head to the Dallas City Council in the coming weeks. (People Newspapers)
  3. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday night in Southeast Dallas. The Dallas Police Department responded to the incident at approximately 11:35 p.m. on Vine Lane, near Teagarden Road, where 36-year-old Hector Barrios Verdugo was found shot. Despite being transported to a hospital, Verdugo succumbed to his injuries and passed away. (FOX 4)
