Here are the top three stories in Dallas today:

  1. After announcing he was switching political parties, Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is facing questions and scrutiny from constituents. Formerly a Democrat, Johnson announced earlier this month that he is now a Republican. At Wednesday's Dallas City Council meeting — the first since his announcement — residents shared their frustration and disappointment with Johnson's decision, including some who called for him to step down. The Dallas County Republican Party expressed support for Johnson, as did Texas Governor Greg Abbott. (WFAA)
  2. On Wednesday, Sep. 27, the Dallas Police Department received a phone call from a man who said he had committed murder. Officers investigated the man's claim and discovered Leamon Beechum, 75, deceased in an Oak Cliff home. Police arrested Mark Beechum, 28, and charged him with murder. According to investigators, the two were arguing and the situation became physical, resulting in Beechum's death. (Fox 4 News)
  3. There are lots of great activities happening this weekend in Dallas! The State Fair of Texas is back this weekend, with butter sculptures, concerts, and delicious foods. At the Majestic Theatre, you can see the creators of the podcast Girls Gotta Eat perform their Snack City Tour. On Sunday, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra will present "Copland and Liszt."
