Mesquite City Council approved Lucas Boulevard improvement
The Mesquite City Council approved a contract with Zachry Construction Corp. to reconstruct Faithon P. Lucas Sr., Boulevard.

Mesquite - The Mesquite City Council has given the green light to a contract with Zachry Construction Corp., initiating a major renovation of Faithon P. Lucas Sr. Boulevard.
The proposal involves a significant overhaul of the existing roadway, transforming it from a two-lane thoroughfare to a four-lane divided section spanning from McKenzie Road to East Cartwright Road. The overall project expenditure is projected at $25 million.
The planned redesign features a 12-foot wide trail for hikers and bikers skirting the north side of the boulevard. This trail will be integrated into the city's extensive trail system and will include a roundabout linking to the anticipated Solterra residential development. Notably, the project encompasses comprehensive upgrades to storm sewer, water line, and sanitary sewer systems. Moreover, a new bridge section will be built specifically for the eastbound lanes.
