One of Dallas’ most romantic restaurants is relocating
One of Dallas' most romantic restaurants, St. Martin's, will close on Greenville Avenue. To move in East Dallas in a couple of months

Dallas - As the final notes of live piano serenades wafted through the air, a bittersweet adieu marked the closing of the iconic St. Martin's Wine Bistro, an enduring culinary gem on Greenville Avenue, Dallas. After more than four decades of infusing romance into the air, its final service will be held on May 20, 2023.
The bistro had carved out a unique niche for itself, being one of the few eateries in the city where the timbre of live piano beautifully complemented an intimate dinner setting.
The current lease reaching its end marks the commencement of a new chapter for Mohsen Heidari, the proprietor, and his family. They have unveiled plans to breathe new life into their beloved date-night destination, relocating it to an exciting locale in East Dallas, promising to resurrect the charming bistro within a few months.

St. Martin’s Wine Bistro has an illustrious history, one that dates back decades, as it has witnessed the Lower Greenville area transform over time. The bistro, famous for its delectable offerings of Champagne brie soup, succulent beef tenderloin, and exquisite crème brûlée, has been an emblem of elegance and grace in the ever-evolving gastronomic landscape.
The Dallas Morning News' critic, Waltrina Stovall, referred to St. Martin's as a "buzzy bistro" back in 1986. Further, in a testament to its timeless appeal, another critic opined that it improved "like a fine wine" a couple of decades ago. Just 13 years prior, the same publication lauded its cuisine as “very good,” with an ambience that exuded "wonderful reassurance."

Fast forward to the present day, and the bistro retains its mantle as one of Dallas’ most tranquil and romantic culinary escapades. St. Martin’s continues to be an exquisite spot to commemorate anniversaries and milestone birthdays.
The journey of St. Martin’s Wine Bistro began in 1980, courtesy of Scott Fickling and Phil Patterson, educators and Vietnam veterans with virtually no prior experience in the restaurant industry. They bought a plot on Greenville Avenue in the 1970s when the area was known for its bohemian character – a stark contrast to today's neighboring million-dollar homes. Fickling and Patterson first inaugurated a neighborhood bar, the San Francisco Rose, before bestowing upon Dallas the beloved St. Martin’s Wine Bistro.
Perhaps a touch of prescience guided their choices, as the revered Dallas restaurant The Grape had already established its roots a few blocks south on Greenville Avenue since 1972. Undeniably, St. Martin's added to this legacy, creating its own distinct brand of excellence that Dallas food connoisseurs will eagerly anticipate in its new location.
