The 292-bed Texas Behavioral Health Center at Medical District Drive and Harry Hines will serve both adults and children. Leaders say the facility will introduce new models of psychiatric care and significantly expand mental health capacity for Dallas and the wider region.

Dallas attorney, entrepreneur appointed to foreign affairs role in State Department (dallasnews.com) — A Dallas-based attorney and beauty salon entrepreneur, Mora Namdar, has been confirmed as assistant secretary of state for consular affairs, overseeing U.S. passport and visa operations. Her story traces roots from Plano schools and Dallas businesses to a top State Department post shaping visa policy, Americans’ safety abroad, and preparations for the 2026 World Cup, which includes North Texas matches.
   

3. Handcuffed Street Preachers Turn To Attorney Following Confrontation With Dallas Officers (dallasexpress.com) — Dallas street preachers detained outside American Airlines Center say Dallas police unlawfully handcuffed them and have now turned the case over to an attorney. Officers cited one preacher for a noise violation and issued criminal trespass warnings, while the department insists it was enforcing ordinances on private property. A viral video and a state lawmaker’s response are keeping local attention on the incident.
   

4. Viral Video Shows Horse Strolling Through Dallas Target (weareabilene.com) — Shoppers at a Target just north of downtown Dallas were stunned when a customer casually led a horse through the aisles, a moment that quickly went viral on TikTok. The writer questions the judgment behind bringing large animals into urban stores and recalls another recent animal mishap in Plano. 5. Mother seeks answers after Dallas woman, mother of five, killed in shooting (wfaa.com) — Dallas police are investigating the fatal shooting of 30-year-old mother of five Nadia Swanson, who was found shot on Markville Drive on Dec. 20 and later died at the hospital.
