Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:

  1. Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson held his annual state of the city address at Dallas Fair Park on Tuesday. Mayor Johnson spoke about improving the city's response to crime and homelessness during his speech. His general thesis is that Dallas is stronger than ever with an optimistic focus on the future.   2. Pizza Leila has announced that it will be opening an independent restaurant located in Downtown Dallas. The new location is set to open in January 2023 on Flora Street. Chef Ji Kang will be leading the operation. The pizza concept has been operating a ghost kitchen out of Sloane's Corner since 2020. (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
  3. Dallas’ WRR-FM (101.1) will have new management. KERA, North Texas' public radio operator will begin operating the station on Jan. 3. KERA has announced that paid programs such as church services and a retirement planning show will be dropped on WRR-FM. The commercial ads will eventually be replaced by sponsor messages. KERA reports that the changes will be more compatible with the "classical music format.” (Subscription: The Dallas Morning News)
