Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- A Dallas County jury has awarded $21.1 million to a family for negligence that occurred during surgery at Baylor University Medical Center. Carlos Rojas, 32 years old, had surgery in 2017 to repair a broken leg. The surgery left him in a vegetative state. His permanent brain damage was due to a lack of oxygen during the surgery. - A new study conducted by Point2Homes.com compared the country's 50 largest cities based on the affordability of a median starter home. Dallas was ranked 17th overall by the study. According to the data, a median starter home in Dallas costs $221,140. The median income in Dallas is $45,047 per year. (CW33 Dallas)
- A man died as a result of exchanging gunfire with Dallas Police Department officers on Sunday night. Donathy Doddy, 61 years old, allegedly charged and shot at officers in the 3400 block of Metropolitan Avenue around 6:15 p.m. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition. No officers were injured during the incident. (WFAA.com)
