Here are the top three stories today in Dallas:
- The Weatherization Assistance Program by Dallas County Health and Human Services provides aid to low-income residents living without air conditioning. County officials visit these households to repair, improve, or replace AC units as needed. Mildred Williams, a Dallas resident, expressed her gratitude for the program's help, allowing her to sleep well and enjoy daily activities comfortably. Those in need of an AC unit or wish to donate to the program can contact the Dallas County Health and Human Services at 214-819-1976 or visit the DCHHS Weatherization website. (Audacy)
- The Dallas Police Department remains committed to seeking justice for the unsolved 1993 murder of Timothy Terrell Johnson. Johnson was fatally shot on Dec. 1, 1993, during a confrontation with two unidentified suspects who robbed him. The police continue their active investigation and encourage anyone with information to get in touch at 214-671-3661 or coldcase.dpd@dallaspolice.gov, mentioning case number 974738-B. (My Texas Daily)
- A Dallas man has been no-billed by a grand jury, meaning they declined to indict him on a murder charge, following a fatal shooting that occurred during a dispute over loud music at a family party. The victim, Carlos Gonzalez, was shot in the chest by his neighbor, Lonnie Holcombe, who allegedly fired shots at Gonzalez's truck with a BB gun. The grand jury determined there was insufficient evidence to support the murder charge, leading to the man's release from the charges. (WFAA)
