1. Texas Tech Health El Paso addresses oral health disparities with new program (krwg.org) — Texas Tech Health El Paso is rolling out a new $400,000 “Borderland Dental Leaders: Building Bridges” program to tackle serious oral health shortages and vaping-related issues among El Paso students. Local high schoolers will get dental screenings, mentoring into health careers, and community education led by promotoras, all aimed at keeping more homegrown dentists and providers serving El Paso and West Texas.
   

2. What the proposed EPWater budget means for your bill (elpasomatters.org) — El Paso Water is proposing a 2026-27 budget that would raise the typical residential bill by about $9.99 a month while keeping most stormwater fees flat. The plan pours $770 million into upgrading aging pipes, boosting water supplies, and improving flood control projects like the Will Ruth Pond. Residents can still weigh in at upcoming Public Service Board meetings before rates change in March.
   

3. City of El Paso builds six new landfill cells, adding years of capacity to the greater El Paso landfill (kvia.com) — El Paso is adding six new engineered landfill cells at the Greater El Paso Landfill on Darrington Road, a $20 million project expected to extend local trash capacity by about 20 years. As daily waste climbs toward 2,000 tons, city officials urge residents to recycle more, bag trash, and cut waste to stretch the site’s remaining space.
   

4. El Paso launches 'Hour of AI' to inspire young tech creators (cbs4local.com) — Families in El Paso can look forward to monthly “Hour of AI” workshops at La Nube starting in 2026, giving kids hands-on experience with coding and artificial intelligence through Minecraft. In partnership with Microsoft TechSpark and EPISD, the program aims to help local students, parents, and teachers explore responsible AI, computational thinking, and creative problem-solving together.
   

5. Las Crucen Arthur J. Crothers reported missing (kvia.com) — Police are asking El Paso and Santa Teresa residents to help find 68-year-old Arthur J. Crothers, who disappeared after leaving a healthcare facility sometime between November 15 and December 1. He was last believed to be in either Santa Teresa or El Paso and has not been seen by family in weeks. Anyone with information is urged to call Las Cruces police at (575) 526-0750.
