Westside Tax Office closure intensifies debate on El Paso County resources (kvia.com) — El Paso County’s Westside Tax Office has been closed since Dec. 1 and may not reopen without more staffing, forcing residents to rely on six remaining locations for registrations and property tax payments. County leaders and the tax assessor-collector are clashing over whether staffing requests were properly made, even as rotating one-day closures and a backlog of dealer title work frustrate residents.

El Paso Fire respond to house fire near Myrtle and Octavia intersection (kfoxtv.com) — Fire crews rushed Wednesday evening to a serious house fire at Myrtle and Octavia near downtown El Paso, where flames also threatened two neighboring structures. The blaze is out and no injuries were reported, but firefighters are still on scene checking for hotspots and monitoring for flare-ups, while evacuated residents from the Myrtle home wait to return.
